They formed to be better than 1-47 with a better chain of command, rank structure, military, and technology. Early recruiting was quite slow, and because of this, the UNC remained tightly knit together for its early life. This provided several advantages along with its fair share of disadvantages. Due to its tightly knit community, the UNC did not have a problem with spies from their enemies, which lead to a better position during offenses.
