The Great Weight War was a four-month conflict primarily fought between the Garry's Mod Alliance Pact (GMAP) and Koupii-X̃ɀʌ̄ͷιwэ-Modrik International (KXMI) against the Coalition, an alliance comprised of many Kestrel-Astria Treaty Organization (KATO) and Petrograd Pact member states. The war lasted for around four months, in which fighting was inconsistent. Though it initially started on Valen Sandbox, the majority of battles took place on Theater of Operations. After prologned inactivity from GMAP, the Coalition unilaterally declared victory and withdrew. This war marked the end of a long-standing trend where the factions community could unanimously agree on a victor, as well as the last war in which GMAP would enjoy a numerical and military advantage. The fact that both sides declared victory inspired the Coalition to launch the Great Gunny War in June of 2025.

Valen Sandbox

Throughout November of 2024, Caesar's Legion, a then IZK proxy group, made several incursions onto Valen sandbox. CL was met with significant resistance by GMAP forces occupying the server, inspiring increased technological development within the former. Despite rules against the use of facade armor (vehicles whose models do not accurately visually represent their armor layout), CL observed significant breaches in this rule by GMAP and IMR, and thus ignored it in their own designs. This sparked retaliatory escalation amongst GMAP and KXMI, heightening tensions. Throughout these engagements, GMAP repeatedly claimed victory on the grounds that CL was leaving the server, but these usually occurred after the battles had already concluded. This angered IZK, they became inspired to conduct a large scale assault on the server to strike a blow against GMAP.

Invasion of Valen (12/14/2024 - GMAP/KXMI Victory)

On December 14th, 2024, Izakia and its minor allies launched a full scale invasion of Valen sandbox. A joint GMAP-KXMI force consisting of Andosia, Skossia, and Yakugiria came to the server's defense. While Izakia enjoyed early successes, KXMI called the Imperium for reinforcements, which then dominated the battlefield with vtols and turned the battle in GMAP-KXMI's favor.

Izakia called off the invasion of Valen following IMR's intervention. During this time, Valen lacked major enforcement of its native ruleset, and IZK members had witnessed illegal technology being used on the server without staff intervention, thus prompting the assumption that using it back would not see any major retaliation due to the community presumably tolerating it. Following the end of the battle, the IZK-KATO sphere had considered the war to have ended prematurely, and this became the source of major disputes defining the beginning and end of a conflict between then Coalition and GMAP leadership.

Forever War

Several engagements occurred between non-belligerent states and IZK in Mid-December of 2024 on the Forever War server. These included Jordi's Independent Denersian Union and Scanty's Pruvoslav Union. Though neither states were aligned with GMAP nor KXMI, GMAP claimed their participation as credit in their war effort.

KATO Intervention

In January of 2025, relations between the Kestrel-Astria Treaty Organization and GMAP broke down due to disagreements on the Imperium's involvement in GMAP affairs. KATO harbored strong animosity towards IMR due to their relationship with the Imperial Alliance at the time, and believed that IMR was attempting to influence GMAP on the Imperial Alliance's behalf. Due to the classified nature of the evidence KATO possessed, they were unable to disclose their findings, which heightened distrust within GMAP towards them. On January 27th, Jarck, the leader of NRK, accused GMAP of openly collaborating with the Imperium, and declared war. It was later learned during KATO-IMR diplomatic talks in February 2025 that IMR's presence in the GMAP sphere was, in reality, to counteract attempts by the Imperial Alliance to influence GMAP.

Theater of Operations: Phase 1

January 27–28, 2025 (GMAP Victory)

On the night of NRK's declaration of martial law on Theater of Operations, Black Star Task Force (BSTF) members Comrade Jeskov and miragegarden were playing on Theater of Operations on the map gm_fork_train, when KATO would launch a full-scale invasion, sending IKR, IW, and NRK forces on the server. Although the KATO members initially claimed they were just testing out the guns, they engaged BSTF first. Prockles and Magi, leaders of GUBBER and the Solar Imperium (SOL), respectively, joined to help BSTF defend the server, with Cat joining a little later as well. There was much infantry combat, mostly occurring within the city. Ape would oftentimes go into the forests to snipe. There were many helicopters in the air at many points of the battle, and miragegarden used a jet. In the middle of the battle, Prockles and Magi had to leave, due to it being late at night. Near the end, Grey515, another SOL leader, joined for fun, primarily using knuckledusters. The battle lasted around three hours, with it going overnight. It ended with KATO admitting defeat and leaving. GMAP's final K/D was 517/294 (1.76), while KATO's was 411/489 (0.84).

January 29–30, 2025 (GMAP Victory)

On January 29, only Jarck joined to attack, with the map being gm_fork_train again, citing that the rest of KATO didn't want to help due to them disliking the server's perk system. 3 GMAP members from BSTF, C.G.I., and SOL, who were already on the server, engaged him back until Jarck left with a very low K/D. That night, when the map was on gm_vyten, IZK leader Ilya joined under a different name, Cuban Sandwich. Several GMAP members were already playing on the server, and didn't engage him at first to pretend that they didn't know it was him. Additionally, more GMAP members joined preemptively just in case a large-scale battle would start. Ilya engaged Cat first by firing at his helicopter with an AA tank. BSTF, C.G.I., DRS, GAGR, GUBBER, and SOL deployed forces to defend, while additionally IZK, IW, and NRK forces were sent to invade. Various forces on both sides would join throughout the battle, with both scattered infantry and vehicle-based combat occurring throughout the map. Sergei spawned in his base, dubbed the Iron Dome, where he had an AA tank on the top surrounded by a translucent fading door dome, which he could activate at will to shoot out of it. Eventually, bill was able to kill Sergei and his spawnpoint using C4. The Iron Dome was shortly deleted after. IZK would utilize several makeshift vehicles, such as a HL2 jeep with props as armor, rigged with C4s, an APC with spinning rectuangular rods in the front to kill players, and small flying vehicles that they would fly up to act as sniping platforms. Near the end of the battle, GMAP made a base out of blast doors to defend against this assault. The battle once again went overnight and lasted 5 hours, ending when IZK-KATO forces left. GMAP's K/D was 670/722 (0.93), while the IZK-KATO K/D was 640/722 (0.89).

January 31-February 1, 2025 (KATO Victory)

On the night of January 31, two NRK members, Jarck and Paloma, would join to engage several GMAP members who were already on while the map was on gm_highland. Jarck would fight around the outside of the map, while Paloma would stay near the South (front) entrance of the bunker with a minigun. The battle was initially in NRK's favor, as the GMAP members were uncoordinated, falling victim to NRK many times, primarily due to Paloma and his minigun. GMAP forces eventually pushed into the bunker, establishing a foothold in there. Paloma and Sergei would rush in, using grenade launchers loaded with sticky and incendiary grenades, as well as using gas grenades to flush out the GMAP forces. They successfully killed many of the GMAP members in the process, but they set their spawns and held their ground. GMAP started fortifying their bunker, turning it into their base. NRK started raiding the base, with more reinforcements on both sides coming to assist. BSTF, C.G.I., DRS, GUBBER, SOL, SC, and YSR were on GMAP's side, while IKR, IW, and NRK were fighting for KATO. Despite a prolonged siege, KATO failed to breach the base, but gained a significant K/D advantage. There was a lull in combat, until KATO forces used the JMod Toolbox to break down the walls of the base while the GMAP forces were distracted. A large firefight ensued, in which GMAP flushed all KATO forces out of the base. The battle once again went overnight, lasting for four hours until all KATO forces left. KATO declared victory due to their superior K/D, which GMAP had been using as a metric for determining the outcome of the past two battles. Despite this, GMAP claimed victory anyway, this time with a new justification that KATO had failed to raid their base. Respectively, KATO and GMAP's K/Ds were 365/233 (1.56) and 185/444 (0.42). KATO accused GMAP of shifting the goalposts following their defeat.

February 1, 2025 (Minor GMAP-KXMI Victory)

Later that day, on February 1, GMAP players (BSTF, C.G.I., DRS, and GUBBER) would be playing on gm_highland, collecting JMod resources. They had upgraded their bunker base from the prior battle and were preparing for another potential invasion. At the time, Paloma was also on the server, but did not engage. However, Jarck joined, creating a squad, and starting the battle. Heavy fighting occurred, with Paloma trying to kill people within the base, GMAP trying to defend it and the many JMod resources inside, and miragegarden going outside to kill the NRK members. Paloma made use of the new guns on the server - much more powerful than regular ones, but had to be bought through in-game currency. Omegatrion of IW would also join to help NRK, while computeration and Corvus of SC and NPF, respectively, would join to help GMAP. Most GMAP members were relegated to defending the base. Cat, miragegarden, and occasionally Harmless and computeration, would patrol outside, hunting KATO members to great success. Sergei would eventually spawn a tall, black base directly in front of GMAP's bunker. It had one-way props as windows to shoot from, but was otherwise impenetrable by small arms fire. However, miragegarden noticed that there was on entrance on the roof, which acted as a door. Using a breaching charge, Cat and miragegarden breached the base, and before they could kill Jarck, he kill binded. The roof was rigged with C4s, which Jarck triggered, destroying his own spawn and killing Cat. However, miragegarden remained alive, capturing the base. The base was then deleted immediately, with Omegatrion and Paloma shortly leaving after. Sergei spawned the exact same base again. However, it was quickly taken over by Cat and Harmless who settled down in his base. Fighting died down shortly after, with the server restarting, ending the battle. GMAP successfully defended their base, while taking over the two KATO bases that were spawned. Additionally, GMAP's K/D was 89/105 (0.85), while KATO's was 45/71 (0.63), making the battle a GMAP victory.

February 2–3, 2025 (GMAP-KXMI Victory)

On the night of February 2, GUBBER members and an NPF member were playing on gm_highland when IZK leader Ilya joined. An IMR member was also on, but didn't initially get involved. C.G.I. and SOL leaders joined in response, with IMR, YSR, another NPF member, and an unaffiliated militant supporting them later in the battle. An additional IZK member and Omegatrion of IW would join to help Ilya. Typical fighting occurred, with people killing each other around the map. GMAP forces were consistently able to get more kills against IZK and IW forces. Around the middle of the battle, Cat was able to capture Ilya with the handcuff swet. He was taken to the bunker and was kept in a room, with most of the GMAP-KXMI forces guarding him. Cat jerry-rigged some fortifications, blocking off one side of the outside hallway, and making a fading door on the other side. Omegatrion would attempt to break in multiple times, but was never able to, being killed by GMAP-KXMI defenses. Eventually, Ilya was almost able to break out of the handcuffs, so he was executed, and regular fighting resumed. The battle went overnight, lasted 4 hours, and ended when IZK and IW forces left. The combined GMAP-KXMI K/D was 207/187 (1.11), and IZK and KATO's combined K/D was 63/101 (0.62), resulting in a GMAP-KXMI victory.

February 4, 2025 (GMAP Victory)

On February 4, the map was once again on gm_highland. Though Comrade Jeskov was not participating in the battle, miragegarden was still fighting IZK on behalf of BSTF. GUBBER leader Prockles joined the server, and got jumped by the six IZK-aligned members. Four of them were officially part of IZK, while the two others were in their squad and actively helped them throughout the battle. One of the two non-IZK members included Sukhoi, a former IMR member who was removed after doxxing people. KATO later disclosed to IMR that IZK had no knowledge of Sukhoi's doxxing incident, nor who he was. Despite the overwhelming odds, miragegarden and Prockles was able to effectively fight them, with Prockles assaulting their base with an RPG-7 from a hilltop. Note that one of the IZK-aligned members, Cap, broke the rules three times by destroying Prockles' helicopter while it was grounded. The battle ended with Prockles having a 124/86 (1.44) K/D, and the IZK-aligned members having a 98/157 (0.62) K/D, a victory for BSTF and GUBBER, despite being heavily outnumbered.

Theater of Operations: Phase 2

Phase 2 marked the latter stages of the war, where a large lull in the fighting occurred between GMAP-KXMI and Coalition for most of February. By early March, fighting resumed.

March 4–5, 2025 (GMAP-KXMI Victory)

On the night of March 4, while the map was on rp_canadatown, several Coalition members (CL, IKR, IW, NRK) joined the server all at once, prompting GMAP-aligned reinforcements (BSTF, C.G.I., DRS, GUBBER, NPF, SC, SOL) to join in response. Firefighting broke out, where GMAP-aligned members had a K/D advantage. Most of the Coalition members started hiding, eventually erecting a large base. GMAP-aligned forces would attempt to raid it, but initially got pushed back due to the use of prop gun turrets. They told CL to stop, as it was against the rules, but CL claimed that they had already ceased using the weapons after being ordered to. Cat, the head admin, got on much later, and was informed about the armed Wire contraptions. He found the illegal contraptions after inspecting their base, and confronted CL about it. However, they denied using Wire whatsoever. Jeskov would also join the server, helping to investigate. Jeskov and Cat took screenshots to prove that CL did in fact have armed Wire, and only then did CL start removing the contraptions. CL also had an illegal invisible fan at the top of their base to push players off the roof, which they also denied as illegal. The battle went overnight, GMAP-aligned forces made a coordinated effort to assault the base once more, killing many Coalition forces in the process. The Coalition still gave GMAP-aligned forces a hard time with helicopters. GMAP-aligned forces pushed deeper into the Coalition's base, but in the heat of battle, the Coalition forces suddenly retreated, claiming victory. However, GMAP-aligned forces had a K/D of 255/244 (1.05), while the Coalition had a K/D of 204/255 (0.8), marking this battle as a victory for GMAP and NPF.

March 5, 2025 (GMAP Victory)

Later that day on March 5, while the map was still on rp_canadatown, Jarck would join to fight several GMAP-aligned forces (C.G.I., DRS, SC, SOL, and an unaffiliated militant). Though he initially gained air superiority with helicopters, the GMAP-aligned forces fought back with their own helicopters, gaining a K/D advantage with combined arms. Jarck resorted to spawning in a large, illegal base. It consisted of a platform, with many transparent segments above, acting as numerous fading doors. Only Sergei could manually open these, as keypads were not present, which was against the rules. Jarck had also told us that he won, because we couldn't raid his base, mocking GMAP's past victory declaration citing a similar reason. Immediately after he said that, he opened the fading doors, allowing Larry and Cat to jump in. Magi blew him up with helicopter missiles, and Larry and Cat occupied his base. Jarck spawned in many more of these bases after the initial capture, this time with keypads. However, he immediately got blown up again, resulting in him despawning most of them, leaving only two, which he would never use again. After he was repeatedly killed, he left, claiming that he had won. However, it was a GMAP-aligned victory, as not only did every NRK base get occupied, but the GMAP-aligned K/D was 108/79 (1.37), while NRK's was 49/59 (0.83).

March 6–7, 2025 (GMAP-KXMI Victory)

On March 6, CL and IW raided the server while GMAP members (BSTF, DRS, GUBBER, SC, and SOL) were already on. Firefights ensued, with GMAP having a better K/D. However, the map was changed to rp_rudmerge since multiple players were having technical issues with it. Most GMAP members would use helicopters to kill Coalition forces while on rp_rudmerge. GMAP members would maintain a K/D advantage throughout the battle, even as IW and NRK joined to support the Coalition. Meanwhile, rispali, who fought on behalf of NPF, joined to help GMAP. Jarck kept using the LVS Stinger against infantry, which was against the rules. Though he claimed it was an accident due to a bug, it happened extremely often, to the point where staff assumed it was not accidental. Additionally, no other players were doing this. As the battle dragged on late into the night, many GMAP members would have to sleep, since they are kids. Inversely, the Coalition would get even more reinforcements on. IW members spawned several fortifications, but GMAP never attempted to raid them. However, opposing forces would snipe and shoot missiles from within them. Fighting died down, with only Cat, miragegarden, and Larry left. Cat and Larry would stay on to not surrender, while miragegarden did the bulk of the fighting at the end. Despite facing 7 of them once, miragegarden was consistently able to kill them more, with minimal losses. The battle ended when the map changed, going overnight and lasting 6 hours in total. GMAP-aligned forces had a K/D of 531/517 (1.03), while the Coalition had a K/D of 463/540 (0.86), resulting in a decisive GMAP-aligned victory. Coalition forces remaining on the server into the late hours became a point of controversy, as GMAP accused them of dragging out fights to intentionally deprive them of sleep. The Coalition defended their actions stating that GMAP would declare victory if they left, even if they had a superior K/D, so they resolved to stay on for as long as possible.

Undocumented Battles (Coalition Victories)

There were three additional battles which occurred after March 6–7, which had been omitted from the record due to information warfare on the deprecated RFAI wiki. These three engagements were the last battles of the war, all of which were Coalition victories against GMAP, which had been declining significantly in activity on the server.

The most significant battle was the destruction of a DRS megabase on March 9 by using Jmod nuclear weaponry. The base was destroyed, and Caesar's Legion immediately spawned their base over where it was prior to its destruction. This marked the last major battle of the Theater campaign, as GMAP forces reduced their presence on the server which resulted in only small skirmishes afterward.

Up until late March, the Coalition maintained an occupation force on the server which went mostly unopposed. Caesar's Legion began a colonization effort on the server, successfully constructing a few settlements on the server with the help of a few server natives. Ludasian and token KATO forces prioritized a nuclear program in order to maintain a state of constant readiness in the event of a GMAP counterattack. GMAP and Пацанская Империя also manufactured nukes themselves and conducted nuclear testing following the nuclear bombing of their base on March 9. Eventually, the Coalition withdrew from the server out of self-proclaimed boredom.

End of the War

After December 14, 2025, the Coalition stopped trying to contest Valen Sandbox. Additionally, after the previous battles, they would stop contesting Theater of Operations as well. The Coalition declared victory over GMAP on the basis that GMAP had ceased operations on Theater for two weeks straight. However, GMAP-KXMI forces won a significant majority of battles while maintaining a superior K/D, as well as maintaining control over Valen Sandbox. The Coalition's victory claim comes from differing definitions of the overall conflict, with the Coalition considering the Valen Invasion on December 14 and prior fights between CL and GMAP to be a separate conflict of its own. On the Theater front, the Coalition alleged that GMAP withdrew from the server after realizing that the Coalition was starting to consistently win battles, and sought to deny giving the Coalition any further wins to maintain an image of a perfect winning streak. Following this, the Coalition turned the bulk of its efforts towards testing ACF crew and preparing for the eventual Great Gunny War, which they launched on June 28.
