The McMullin F-20 Tigershark is a light multirole fighter, designed and built by the Assault Expeditionary Force. Its development began in June 2020 as a revival of an earlier F-5 and X-29 program, featuring a new flight chip that greatly improved server impact, and modernized avionics for ACF-3 which featured a new locking chip. Compared with the original F-5 produced in early 2019, the F-20 is significantly more efficient and designed with optimization for use in larger numbers.

The Tigershark's development was carried out under a directive to develop fighters that would be capable in combat with the latest adversary aircraft, but excluding sensitive front-line technologies used by the Assault Expeditionary Force's own aircraft like the F-18 and F-14B. The F-20 was a product of the AEF's 2020 revised military export policies, which aimed to provide factions with high-quality equipment without the risk of AEF front-line technology falling into adversarial hands.

Design

The primary design change between the earlier AEF F-5 and the F-20 was the use of a modernized low usage flight E2, which was specially designed for the F-20. The new E2 provided 30% less E2 usage than the combined output of MPFC's two stage flight chip and varlib e2s. This improved the aircraft's net-E2 impact from ~700us to an average of 200us.

The F-20 would also make greater use of holograms and precision alignment in its construction. During its development, several detail areas using props were re-designed to use holograms, and landing gear were added for better landing and re-armament.

The F-20's avionics suite was all-new and greatly improved over the earlier designs. The ACF-3 medium targeting radar (renamed AN/APG-67) was the heart of the F-20's targeting suite, offering near instantaneous air-to-air and air-to-ground tracking with no complicated subsystems. The F-5's MPFC hologram gunsight was replaced with an all-EGP version based on a ring-style gunsight. Time from power-on to takeoff was greatly reduced as a result of the engine swap, to under 10 seconds. The cockpit was completely re-worked with an integrated EGP head-up display (HUD) and two monochrome multi-function displays set high on the control panel, and the addition of simplified keybindings.

Operational History

Testing

The F-20 made its maiden flight on July 28, 2020, completing initial testing with the original F/A-18E flight E2. The flight presented no issues besides a failure to retract one wheel due to it not being linked with an advanced entity marker. The aircraft landed with no further incident.

World War III

see full article: World War III

The F-20 was pressed into service as a frontline fighter for AEF and RKG during World War III to fight TEC and its allies. This marked the first operational use of the F-20 as it was developed in the weeks leading up to the conflict. Several upgrades were made in preparation for the final battle of colourful crew. Which was a no-show.

Postwar

Following the war, the F-20 continues to see service. It has also been spotted being used as a public dupe, implying it was in fact leaked from faction service.
