Summary

The Nationalist Republic of Kalestania, abbreviated as NRK, is a faction that was formed in September 2018 in response to the first disbanding of AEF. The nation of Kalestania, in universe, is based on 2010s and modern day Ukraine, using a slightly modified version of the Ukrainian language and making use of a Ukrainian aesthetic for roleplay purposes. Kalestania was originally an oligarchy with the ranks "Presidential Commander" and "General of the Army" acting as joint leaders. The "Presidential Commander of Kalestania" has not changed since it's founding, to this day the position is still held by Jarck. The position "General of the Army" was first held by Junebug482 but, over the years it has been held by further individuals. These individuals, in order from oldest to most recent are: Junebug482, Baccio, and Kiwi. The position is currently held by Paloma. Kalestania has been home to many people over the years, having a member count over thirty at its height. Today, Kalestania is a minor power with the ability to effectively project influence across the meta.

Early Days Era (First Republic Period)

The founders of Kalestania, Jarck and Junebug482, were originally a part of the Assault Expeditionary Force, recruited in a campaign to secure more manpower for an assault on Dirtbox. Technically, Kalestania was founded by three people, the third being an individual by the name of OfficerPenguin. However, OfficerPenguin had renounced his leadership position early into the group's founding. Though the official founding of Kalestania is considered to be September 3, 2018, the group technically existed for 2–3 months prior, remaining silent until Jarck and Junebug482 could produce sufficient ACF technology. With ACF development hitting a brick wall due to the lack of sufficient external resources on how it functioned, Kalestania began to look for advice from outside forces. This salvation was found in the True Chaos Insurgency (TCI), with the inhabitants of the now defunct Pootland Sandbox providing Kalestania with the knowledge of how to build ACF turrets. Kalestania's presence on Pootland eventually, contact was made with the Republic of Sovinia (SOVN), considered to be Kalestania's first ally. This led to the foundation of Kalestania's first military alliance, the "Gresten Alliance". This pact was very short lived, only deploying once in defensive maneuvers against The Authority on SSPH in early October 2018. Seeing the potential in Kalestania, with its decent amount of members and knowledge of ACF, Sovinia invited Kalestania to join the war against the Server Defense Force, and FOXCBM, leading Kalestania to become an official member of the first incarnation of the Garry's Mod Alliance Pact (GMAP). Kalestanian archivists generally place this event at the end of the Early Days era.

GMAP Era (First Republic Period)

The GMAP era lasted from October 2018 to mid-December 2018 and was Kalestania's first introduction the broader international community. GMAP was in the midst of their war with the Server Defense Force (SDF) their proxies united under the Eagle Initiative (EI) and Kalestania was eager to prove itself on the field of battle. This battle would eventually come in the form of a short tank battle on Ilya's Slavetown Sandbox. The battle was unorganized and chaotic at first, with EI forces aimlessly wandering around being picked off by GMAP defenses manned by forces from Kalestania, Sovinia, New Germania, Izakia and many others. After the initial chaos, the battle was organized into 2v2 tank battles which notably, required an Izakian tank to fight on the side of the EI tank due to lack of willingness from EI troops to fight. After this battle, Kalestania kept pushing to further their membership in GMAP, asking for a seat in the GMAP Security Council which at the time included C.G.I, RSMF, SOVIN, RFAS, GKR and SSRB. After the Coalition War ended and SDF surrendered, GMAP for the most part went into hibernation. By this point, Kalestania was inching into the Izakian sphere. Contact with them was made due to their siding with GMAP in the Coalition War. This closeness eventually led to Kalestania joining the first iteration of the Petrograd Pact in December of 2018.

New Year's War / Offensive Plan: Firestorm Era (First Republic Period)

One of Kalestania's most defining historical periods is what is widely referred to as the "New Years War" but, is internally referred to as "Offensive Plan: Firestorm". This was a plan to assemble an alliance of multiple groups to fight a war against the Assault Expeditionary Force (AEF). AEF was declared defunct in late August of 2018 but prepared to return on New Year's Eve of that year. Kalestania went into this conflict with the belief that they would be reinforced by a collection of groups that agreed to fight alongside them but, almost all of these groups withdrew their support once the war began with the exception of IZK in a minor supporting role. Even facing overwhelming odds, Kalestania refused to back down and continued forward with the plan to attack AEF. On New Year's Eve of 2018, Kalestanian forces engaged the AEF garrison stationed on Trump's Hair. Kalestanian forces were outnumbered 10 to 1, with only 3 members joining to fight the over 12-man strong AEF garrison. Kalestania's biggest oversight in the lead up to the war was lack of intelligence, with the Kalestanian High Command being fed a constant stream of false information by double agents planted within the group. Due to this, the Kalestanian High Command had absolutely no prior indication on the strength of AEF forces or their technological superiority. Woefully outnumbered, outgunned and underprepared, the Kalestanian units sent to fight the AEF forces were utterly smashed, with the battle only lasting a short period of time. A lot was learned from this battle however, specifically in the department of Kalestania's technological inferiority. The largest problem laid within Kalestania's front line armored vehicles. The DF-41 Prowler Medium Tank and OV-90 Vakor MBT were extremely obsolete and unfit to fight a war against a technologically superior enemy. This led to the development of the Prowler-X MBT, which was one of the longest serving vehicles in Kalestanian history. Ultimately, the war ended in catastrophic defeat for Kalestania, with the war ending sometime in late January of 2019. Overall, many in the Kalestanian Army and High Command felt betrayed by their allies, due to their unwillingness to act. Due to this, Kalestania left the Petrograd Pact, and founded the European Commonwealth with New Germania and Sovinia.

European Commonwealth Era (Federalized Period)

After the perceived betrayal of the Kalestanian cause by its allies, A plan by the name of "Offensive Plan: Snowpiercer" was drafted. This plan was vague but generally contained plans for Kalestania to pull back and build strength in order to enact revenge on AEF and the groups which pledged their aid to Kalestania, but never provided it. However, this plan was deemed unrealistic and overly ambitious and was promptly scrapped. Instead, Kalestania sought to merge with New Germania and Sovinia, forming the European Commonwealth (EUC). The European Commonwealth was relatively short lived, only lasting a month or so and only fighting in a few battles against Izakia before breaking apart. From the beginning, EUC was wracked with issues regarding power sharing with the leader of New Germania, Elias, seeking to fully control Kalestania and Sovinia, rather than embracing the concept of equally shared power between the 3 states. Because of this, Kalestania and Sovinia ejected New Germania from the European Commonwealth and promptly formed its successor entity, East Slavia.

East Slavia Era (Federalized Period)

East Slavia (ESLV) was a united entity comprised of Kalestania, Sovinia and former Phantom Republic members formed after the booting of New Germania from the European Commonwealth. It existed in a time where ISA essentially dominated the faction sphere, making battles between peer adversaries nearly impossible due to the threat of intervention. Because of this, ESLV never participated in any major battles, only small skirmishes against the period's newest up and comer, RMTF. ESLV is most widely known for its several controversies, particularly in illegal ACF technology and dupe stealing. Beginning with illegal ACF technology, ESLV sought to produce their own "super tank" to contend with the great powers of the time. Vehicles like the Inner Sphere "XM-2 Khabib", Izakian "Sturnikov G-10" and Urtanesian "Typhon-D" were hypothesized to be illegal but, without any substantial proof at the time, nobody could be sure. East Slavia's super tank would begin development shortly after its founding. The project, spearheaded by Lemon and worked on by many others, produced a single prototype, the "E-1 Tumbler". This vehicle, though including many design elements that would later be found on the "XM-2 Khabib", was nowhere near up to par with its competitors. It featured weightless guns and ammunition, regenerative armor, wallhack technology and numerous other illegal attributes. The nail in the coffin for East Slavia was the exposure of the act of dupe-stealing by certain members of the group. This resulted in East Slavia becoming a pariah state and completely collapsing and, the vanishing of the main perpetrator of the dupe-stealing actions, Cap.

Reformation Era (Second Republic Period)

After the exposure of the illicit actions of the Federation of East Slavia, most members went their separate ways, with some even believing that paving a path for small groups unaffiliated with Izakia or the Inner Sphere Alliance was impossible. However, this attitude was turned around almost immediately with the sudden exposure of the illegal nature of the "XM-2 Khabib" MBT and subsequent collapse of the Inner Sphere Alliance. This revived hope for the faction scene in many, including in the minds of the Kalestanian High Command. After a series of talks, it was decided that the federalization of Kalestania and Sovinia was a flawed idea and that the formation of an extremely close military alliance would be the more logical route for both nations to take. The two states believe that a strong alliance acting as a middle ground between the Petrograd Pact and New-Ares Treaty Organization was a key aspect in continued inter-state stability. The result of these talks was the signing of the Eagle Declaration, and the formation of the Orzel Alliance.
