In 2016 the RFAI once again used the M10 during the New Germania War, equipped with upgrades such as EZ Tank Turret enabling mouse aimed combat, also making it the first non-ACF tank to employ such a method within the meta. The AEF retired the M10 after the New Germanian War, but was later slated for upgrades seeing the need for a primary wiremod vehicle in 2019. M10-series vehicles continue in service with AEF, but have been highly modified and had their firepower, mobility and protection upgraded to increase their combat effectiveness on the modern battlefield and are now designated M10A2.

The M10 Defender, is a second generation main battle tank employed by the AEF introduced on July 22nd 2015. With the RFAI's deactivation of their previous T12 series of armored vehicles earlier that year, the M10 became the RFAI's primary main battle tank during wars with ABMC, and New Germania. Countless M10s have been spawned by the RFAI and AEF. Though originally built in 2015, a retrofit was performed in 2019 updating their standard to the M10A2.

The first combat usage of the M10 was with the RFAI during the 2015 Second Summer War where it saw service designated as the "Defender MBT." It was effectively used in combat against ABMC armor such as the Warrior Mk. 1. In 2016 the RFAI once again used the M10 during the New Germania War, equipped with upgrades such as EZ Tank Turret enabling a mouse aimed turret and main cannon, also making it the first non-ACF tank to employ such a method within the meta. The AEF retired the M10 after the New Germanian War, but was later slated for upgrades seeing the need for a primary wiremod vehicle in 2019. M10-series vehicles continued in service with the AEF until its dissolution in 2020. In frontline use the M10 was superceded by the M3 Blitzer.

AEF Service History

The original M10 deployed to numerous sandbox servers during the Second Summer War. The M10 was used in fire support, direct assault of fortified positions, and limited reconnaissance. Early M10s were plagued with issues involving the gun turret being powered by wire thrusters as it did not provide the fine control needed to engage targets. The gun also lacked any form of pitch control. Later in the summer war the M10 was given EZ Tank Turret control. This later variant of the M10 was speculated to have been fielded during Operation Dragon Strike.

The M10 and M10A1 were deployed on Snyde during the New Germania war. M10A1s were integrated with Pew Pew weaponry for better effectiveness against enemy armor. The M10A1 was notably more effective in combat giving the option to physically damage props. The standard M10 model was challenged by the New Germanian vehicle the PanzercracKer. This prompted newer models of the M10A1 to feature a fading door function to prevent it from being thrown around by wire turret spam.

In present day the M10A2 serves as the AEF's primary wiremod MBT, but has only seen combat once on Ninja's Build and Kill during a skirmish with local forces. The Defender is slated for upgrades to the M10A3 in August of 2019.

Development

A Defender MBT (M10) deployed on an unknown server.

The first prototype of the defender (now designated as the XM10) featured a two-man crew, wire forcer based gun system, wire thruster propulsion and turret control system, and two fixed hull mounted wire turrets to fire at any forward infantry. The design also implemented a single wire turret under the gun on the turrets baseplate to be operated by the gunner who was seated in the front of the turret.

When the XM10 was adopted as the M10, Defender Main Battle Tank the wire forcer based gun system was removed in favor of an E2 cannon coded by Nijime it proved itself in combat and would be seen on every model of the M10 (excluding M10A1) to present day.

Using a two man crew was proving to be ineffective and following Omegatrion's new research with the M175 Guardian proving that E2 control was more effective led to the adoption of Ez Tank Turret however the gun was still limited to rotating on the x-axis, Strayed resolved this by adding a pivoting system and a center of gravity (bathtub prop) to trick the ACF E2 into believing it was an ACF gun.

Variants

The M10 and its variants were the only wiremod main battle tank to be fielded by the RFAI they followed the RFAI's designation code of putting the type of tank followed by a number or designation.

Defender XM10 (n/a)

The prototype model of the Defender MBT. This design featured a two-man crew, wire forcer gun system, two hull mounted wire turrets, one turret mounted wire turret and thruster propulsion and turret control.

Defender M10 (MBT)

The base service model of the Defender MBT. This design featured a two-man crew, E2 gun system, two hull mounted wire turrets, one turret mounted wire turret and thruster propulsion and turret control.

Defender M10A1 (MBTA1)

The Pew-Pew model of the Defender MBT. This design featured a single man crew, Pew-Pew gun system, Pew-Pew .50 Caliber coaxial gun, and thruster propulsion.

Defender M10A2 (MBTA2)

The current service model of the Defender MBT. This design featured a single man crew, E2 gun system, single coaxial wire turret, and thruster propulsion.
