The Communist State of the United Novoslav Confederation (CSUNC), commonly known as Novoslavia, and formerly known as the Communist State of the United Novoslav Corporations up until August of 2017, was an influential faction in the sandbox meta up until it's decline in inactivity around 2018, and dissolution in 2019. As the successor state to the United Corporation (UNC) it was nominally organized as a federal union of 3 national republics, the largest and most populous of which was the administrative district of Skvad, which also served as Novoslavia's capital. In practice however, the CSUNC was ran as a one party dictatorship under Kommissar Bonkaholic.

Novoslavia's roots lay in the First Patriotic War, a short revolution led by Bonkaholic and Data, in which they overthrew the predominantly Legion of Flame controlled government. However, this revolution was not accepted by all within the United Corporation, resulting in the Second Patriotic War; a civil war between the democratically-led DSUNC, and Bonkaholic's new communist government, the CSUNC. Following the communist party's victory in the civil war, it would consolidate into a medium sized group of over 20 members by late 2014, and further grow to 50 members by 2015. During early 2016, Novoslavia would become a founding member of the Wojtek Pact, an alliance between CSUNC, RFAI, Parcicia and Izakia. However tensions with New Germania over UberHannover's annexation of New Poland, and unresolved tensions during Novoslavia's brief involvement in the Raven-Germanian war would lead to a Germanian-Novoslavian Cold War. Following UberHannover's withdrawal out of the New Poland territory, the newly independent Federation of New Poland would pass a resolution to be annexed into Novoslavia on April 23rd. As an immediate result, a further decline in relations would occur between Novoslavia and Uber Hannover, culminating in the April 24th Hannoverian Bombing of an RFAI Embassy, this action would temporarily cease the ongoing Germanian-Novoslavian cold war, as both factions would temporarily ally to fight Uber Hannover as a unified force.

Following the UberHannover War, the Germanian-Novoslavian cold war would resume, eventually boiling over on June 7th into the First Novoslav War following New Germania's annexation of New Poland, after a week of week of fighting, New Germania would agree to concede New Poland in exchange for peace. However, Novoslavia would suffer heavy casualties during the war. It would quickly become apparent that the peace treaty signed between Novoslavia and New Germania would not last, and on August 16th New Germania would once again invade New Poland. Although Novoslavia, and the now reformed Wojtek Pact would suffer heavy losses, would achieve victory over New Germania once again. Novoslavia and New Germania would come out of the war with the policy of detente against one-another, and as a result both factions would agree to sign multiple treaties with each other, the most notable being the Desolution of Colonialism Act which stated that no faction could claim a server they do not directly own, however New Germania would withdraw from this treaty and start a brief resumption of hostilities, however relations between the two states would remain neutral. Novoslavia would become a founding member of the Anti-ISA coalition in the wake of the Continental War, and would participate in multiple battles against ISA. However, during this period of time Novoslavia would become less and less involved in Garry's Mod, with Novoslavia going inactive during June of 2018, and would stop posting to their steam group in November of the same year. Novoslavia would continue posting on their official radio station up until July 5th of 2019.

History

First Patriotic War

During summer of 2014, two factions called Legion of Flame, and Squade would merge together in a union called the United Corporations (UNC). The UNC would go on to absorb multiple smaller groups, and become a relatively prosperous state. However during July of 2014, disputes between UNC's largest member-states would escalate into a revolution led by Bonkaholic and Data who would both seek to overthrow what they deemed a "Fascist Dictatorship" in favor of a communist government. Dozens of UNC members would rush to support these revolutionaries, however Legion of Flame and most of the UNC's smaller groups would side with government forces in an attempt to quell the revolution. Despite loyalist forces outnumbering the revolutionaries, the revolutionaries would successfully overthrow the UNC government, and would shortly after declare the Communist State of the United Novoslav Corporations (CSUNC).

Second Patriotic War

With the communist party now in power, and the loyalists going into exile, Novoslavia would officially create it's steam group, abandoning the old UNC steam group. However, the exiled loyalists in opposition to the establishment of CSUNC would establish their own rival government; the aptly named Democratic State of the Novoslav Corporations. This would begin a civil war between DSUNC and CSUNC, with major fighting occurring between the two groups. However the war would quickly come to a standstill, with the Democratic government offering to exile themselves in exchange for peace, which the communist party would agree to. However despite officially agreeing to these terms, the communist party would resume the war, essentially destroying DSUNC from the inside, which would result in DSUNC surrendering on the 6th of August.

Growth & War with Starfleet Command

On August 25th, Starfleet Command would declare war on Novoslavia, however not much is known about Starfleet Command, or as to why the war was declared in the first place. Despite this sudden declaration of war, CSUNC would begin a mass recruitment program, growing to 17 members by September 5th. Not much is known about the Starfleet-Novoslav war, however what is known is that on September 27th, both sides agreed to negotiate a peace deal, and would ratify it a day later.

Excursion into Minecraft

On October 18th, CSUNC would be challenged by a group called Budderball to fight them on a minecraft towny server called Vanilla Galaxy. Not much is known about Budderball, however what is known is that their base of operations was in a desert, and that they had around 20 members. On October 24th, it turned out that this provocation by Budderball was actually conducted by a random member in the hopes of sparking a war between the two factions. In the end both parties would remain peaceful towards each other.

Conflict with Minges

December 3rd would begin Novoslavia's long conflict with Minges, with the communist party issuing "Minge Hunts" with the goal of harassing an individual in the hopes of them quitting the server. This would continue into March of 2015, where Novoslavia would continue to fight against Mingebags and associated groups, with Novoslavia becoming a member of the GMod Home Army (GHA), an organization with the purpose of defending servers from Minges. CSUNC would lead multiple operations against invading minge forces, the most notable of these being Operation White Monsoon, which was an operation with the stated goal of targeting players who enjoyed the FNAF games. CSUNC would also invade and occupy multiple sandbox servers during this period of time, however the extent of CSUNC's influence is not documented, but was estimated to be significant at this point in time. CSUNC's anti-minge activities would continue throughout 2015. CSUNC would also come into conflict with Garry's Mod's Brony community, officially going to war with them on November 2nd of 2015, with Novoslavia presumably winning the war on January 10th of 2016.

Formation of the Wojtek Pact

On March 5th, 2016 CSUNC, RFAI, Izakia, and Parcicia would found the Wojtek Pact, which would would strengthen ties between these four factions. CSUNC would support the RFAI during it's short conflict with Project Ashenrising, with Wojtek Pact forces overwhelming the small group, putting an end to the war. During this period of time, CSUNC would begin first contact with EliasSchild, the leader of New Germania. CSUNC was asked to join in a war against New Germania by the smaller New Raven Empire, however this war would turn out to be little more than roleplay, with no major battles happening between New Germania and the New Raven Empire. Despite this war not being serious, CSUNC hoping to keep good relations with New Germania, would sign a symbolic peace treaty and non-aggression pact with them.

Germanian-Novoslav Cold War

During the month of April of 2016, tensions between UberHannover, New Germania and Novoslavia would rise, with the three factions entering into a tense cold war. UberHannover and New Germania would ally one another to counter the Wojtek Pact, however New Germania and Novoslavia would keep their non-aggression pact. During this period of time, UberHannover would see resistance form in the group known as New Poland, with the two groups citing to have clashed on multiple occasions.

On April 21st of 2016, UberHannover and Novoslavia would agree to a temporary truce. However this would not last as on April 23rd, New Poland, now the Federation of New Poland would be annexed into Novoslavia as CSUNC's second republic, with New Poland retaining it's leadership over it's own subsidiary group. On April 24th, in retaliation for Novoslavia's annexation of New Poland, UberHannover would bomb an RFAI embassy, and fire at Wojtek forces. This ignition of hostilities was reportedly caused by CSUNC opening fire on UberHannoverian forces, however this claim is still hotly disputed. Wojtek would quickly respond to the unfolding situation, and would deploy dozens of members onto the server, however UberHannover would not attempt to contest Wojtek's occupation of the server. It is noted that during May, New Germania would betray it's historical alliance with UberHannover, opportunistically joining the war against UberHannover. Multiple engagements would occur between UberHannover and Wojtek, with all engagements resulting in a Wojtek-aligned victory. UberHannover would capitulate on May 23rd and be annexed by New Germania as a result.

First Novoslav War

Following the UberHannover war, New Poland would officially succeed from UberHannover, and would officially establish the Federation of New Poland. However shortly after independence, a poll would be held in New Poland about whether or not the newly founded republic should remain independent, or be annexed into neighboring faction of New Germania. The results of this poll are still contested, although evidence from the period implies that voter fraud was at play. With the results being 5:1 in favor of annexation, New Germania would swiftly occupy the New Poland territory. The immediate effects of New Poland's annexation would lead to the immediate souring of relations between Novoslavia and New Germania, leading to the resumption of the Germanian-Novoslav cold war, which had temporarily ceased during the New Germanian and Novoslavian cooperation in the UberHannover war. On June 7th, New Germania would be removed from the Wojtek Pact, and both sides would clash on the server Snyde on the same day. After 2 hours of fighting, New Germania's would begin a withdrawal out of the New Poland territory, resulting in New Poland once again attaining independence. On the following day, both the forces of the Wojtek Pact, and New Germania would clash once again on Snyde with inconclusive results. On the 18th, both sides would agree to a ceasefire although, however no formal peace treaty would ever be signed between Novoslavia and New Germania. The outcome of the war would essentially be the status quo, New Poland was once again independent, and both New Germania and Novoslavia were still in a tense cold war. Novoslavia would see a surge of volunteers during this period as a result of the continuing cold war.

Second Novoslav War

On July 20th, 2016 New Germania and Novoslavia would agree to a temporary peace deal, that would see the temporary de-escalation in hostilities against one-another. However, relations would boil over on August 16th, as New Germania would declare war on Novoslavia on August 16th, justifying their war by exclaiming that Novoslavia was enacting a "genocide" on New Poland's inhabitants, however there exists zero evidence to support any claim of a genocide as of the writing of this article. Notably, both the RFAI and ABMC would initially join the war on the side of New Germania, however this small coalition would not last, as on August 17th Novoslavia would clash with RFAI, ABMC, and New Germanian forces on the server of Dirtbox, the CSUNC garrison on the server would heavily outnumber the invading coalition, resulting in a Novoslavian victory. This defeat would lead to ABMC withdrawing from the war, and the RFAI would follow suit. On October 16th hostilities would effectively cease, informally ending the Second Novoslav War.

Germanian-Novoslav Detente

New Germania and Novoslavia would both make leaps in easing tensions and strengthening relations with one-another, with a non-aggression pact being formed on October 18th, and would both meet on December 31st of 2016 to negotiate a proper end to hostilities, and the end to the long-lasting Germanian-Novoslav cold war. A notable bill to be signed during this period was the De-solution of Colonialism Act, which stated that no group shall hold claims on a server which they do not directly host. Following the signing of this bill, both New Germania and Novoslavia would remove multiple propaganda posts made against one-another as a show of good will and solidarity. In the following month New Germania would withdraw from the De-solution of Colonialism Act, this action would be seen as controversial among the signatories of the bill, however no action was done against it. Later into Feburary, both nations would resume hostilities, with both sides engaging in a short 22 hour war against one-another, although this would be the last time either faction formally engaged with one-another.

War against the United Soviet City States

During March of 2017, KacperBox, a former Ryadovoy of Novoslavia's Red Star Army, would desert from his position. Although this would initially seem insignificant, on March 2nd, Novoslavia would declare KacperBox's newly founded United Soviet City States (USCS) as an enemy of the state. Not much is known about this conflict, however it is known that on June 2nd of 2017, the USCS would agree to make peace with Novoslavia. USCS would later fall into a civil war between the faction's fascist party, and loyalist socialist government. On June 7th, Novoslavia would officially annex the USCS, although the Fascist party of USCS would still claim to be independent from Novoslavia, it is generally recognized that the USCS would cease to be an independent state after this point.

On October 16th, CSUNC would become a member of the Anti-ISA pact, a coalition that included dozens of factions such as Izakia, the Kerbal States, Cat-Gopher Industries, and multiple other groups from the period, the coalition's stated goal was to be a united front against the forces of the Inner Sphere Alliance. CSUNC would play a minor support role against ISA during the Continental War, with evidence supporting the fact that CSUNC was involved in multiple engagements during the war.

Legacy

Unlike most groups, CSUNC wouldn't have a definitive date of dissolution, instead the group would slowly decline in activity, and essentially cease to exist as a meta group. One of the most notable outcomes from Novoslavia is the existence of Izakia, which was founded by Ilya after his time as an artilleryman in the Novoslav Red Star Army.
