Server Logotype

Space Sandbox Server is a sandbox server created on December 19, 2025, by ST2005. It's a server with all the common Faction Meta addons, including Armored Combat Framework and StarfallEX. Unlike most servers (only akin to E2 Infinity), this server has Spacebuild Enhancement Pack, and The Space Update is planned to release in January 2026. The server is officially declared to be Multi Purpose Task Force's capital, MPTF has put effort into developing its space force already; ST2005 is one of MPTF's high-ranking members and MPTF leader Person is designated as server's co-owner, however, The Space Update will enable other factions to contest and conquest territories of significant size.

Precursor

There used to exist a server called Space Sandbox in 2024. It was hosted by Person locally and briefly. Space Sandbox Server of 2026 (so, the one covered in this article) uses Person's logotype and loading screen. On December 25, the server was renamed to "Space Sandbox Server" to address the fact that "Space Sandbox" abbreviates to "SS"; the new abbreviations are "SSS" and "3S"

Foundation

Prior to foundation of Space Sandbox Server, there was a bunch of fairly active sandbox servers with long-standing history: NPC Zombies vs Players, CFC, Versailles Sandbox Server, Valen Sandbox, Koupii, Noob - to name a few. However, some of them are subject of toxic or incompetent administration with known spite for The Faction Meta (NPCZ notoriously going on a banwave that has hit players unrelated to factions), some of them are known to be complete anarchies that disregard both tech combat rules and social interaction rules, or are simply running on an underpowered hardware that make ACF combat with high player counts challenging.

Additionally, ST2005 made return to Team Spartan Cookies & Milk - one of the last standing Spacebuild servers in GMod. During construction of a spaceship, a concept of dimensions-based instancing was conceived and Dimensions Core was conceptualized, pitched to TSCM's community and received so well a member named Nova Astral joined the team briefly.

Wishing upon a server with rules and hardware liberal enough for exciting combat, but conservative enough to prevent people from telebombing each other and enacting harassment campaigns akin to that which happened on Versailles Sandbox Server in early November 2025, all while standing unique from other generic sandbox servers, Space Sandbox Server was founded by ST2005 and Person.

Dimensions Core

Dimensions Core (Dimcore) is a Garry's Mod addon written by ST2005 and Nova Astral that introduces an NWVar called "dimension" to all entities on a map. If two entities have matching dimensions, they can interact and see each other. Else, they aren't networked to each other, collisions between them are prevented, and traces are either blocked or forced through. It implements a concept of Dimension Stacks to detour util.TraceLine, ents.Create and other functions to make them respect dimensions, even though they are called from tables and not from entities.

Upon completing Dimensions Core, The Space Update will be worked on and released.

Spacebuild Construction Pack (SCEP) is a fork of Spacebuild Enhancement Pack (SBEP) that is being worked on by ST2005 and, partly, by Imafluffycat, a TSCM veteran. It aims to bring fixes/patches/reworks to SBEP. Notably:

• Add attachment points to MedBridge parts that don't have attachment points
• Re-categorize parts in Part Spawner, Door Spawner and Docking Clamp Spawner
• Improve SmallBridge Skin Selector by adding an option to "apply skin to all constrained entities"
• Reimplementing life support to offer less redundant/useless entities and work much faster

• 

  Ship that uses SCEP MedBridge parts that didn't have attachment points in SBEP

  Reimplementing gyropod to use setpos/setang propulsion method instead of applyforce propulsion method (with autoparenting/autounparenting upon activation/deactivation)

Spacebuild: Continued

"The Crown Jewel" of Space Sandbox Server, a content update to the server by implementation of Spacebuild: Continued - an addon that will leverage both SCEP and Dimcore to put a solid divide between Space Sandbox Server and other generic sandbox servers, as well as TSCM; an addon that will make Space Sandbox Server the only second Spacebuild server currently active.

Spacebuild: Continued will bring

• A new Spacebuild map that will offer seven distinct sectors separated using Dimcore (each sector will take up entirety of map size, to avoid terrain and players colliding they will be split with Dimensional Instancing feature of Dimcore, travel between sectors will be possible using an interstellar warp drive)
• A new combat system that will be tailored to spaceships, introduce mobility, weaponry and other systems for spacefarring (including an interstellar warp drive system to integrate spaceships with Dimcore, as well as a compatibility layer with ACF to enable ground bombardments and ground-to-space weaponry)
• NPCs spaceships for PvE boss raids, capital entities that must be fought as a faction (or as a single, very talented and resilient engineer)
• Nova Astral's rework of Carter's Addon Pack with Space Sandbox Server-specific changes (notably, reworked weapons to avoid stunlocking, and Stargates that can carry travelers across dimensions)

The release of Spacebuild: Continued is planned for early 2026.

Ruleset

The rules of the server are designed in a way to allow interesting combat solutions while forbidding doing stuff that would make playing on the server difficult (and thus desert the server the way Koupii, Noob and Versailles are all devoid of life).

Combat

"If it's blockable, dodgeable or destructible, then it's legal". Thus, anything that isn't telebombing and can be neutralized is considered to be legal. Factions playing on the server are free to impose rulesets on their enemies, but there won't be any bans delivered on subjective claims.

The purpose of such combat doctrine is to allow people to bend limits in such ways that would enable potentially interesting combat while protecting players from getting called out for "illegal" tech. Faction may agree on rulesets, but if an independent player is flying around in an aircraft of their own design, the players they aim at will have to choose between fighting back or entering buildmode, but not a ban (unless they trap players in loops of death using plycore or an equivalent mechanism)

Social

Social rules forbid harassment, abuse, bigotry, directed hate and disruptive behavior. While the discord server's #rules channel is very elaborate on social interactions to the point the channel description reads "dystopia, authoritarianism, totalitarianism", no penalties for violating social rules were ever delivered by ST2005 or Person, even though the server has already been visited by KMI alliance's members who socialized on the server during its peak player visits. The person closest to getting penalized was Rispali for texting "svo z ruzzian hardztyle" in presence of ST2005, a known Ukrainian, but they got away with a warning, and stopped enacting toxic behavior completely after a short while of attempted brigading and baiting.

The purpose of this rule is to prevent people from brigading newcomers off of the server with toxicity the way KMI members did on Versailles, Noob and Koupii. With toxic behavior strictly prosecuted, server saw peak player count of 12 in its first week of existence. "Bigotry" is only excused when using N-words and other slurs is done in edginess, rather than malice. As in, a kid casually saying an N-word, R-word or F-word (slur for homosexual people, not referring to word "fuck") will be treated as edginess compared to Jarck saying "khokhol" or "hohol" at ST2005 in a clear attempt at ragebait.

Faction Meta involvement

Space Sandbox Server has all the common sandbox faction addons - ACF, Wiremod, M9k (as controversial as any other weapon pack). It has already been visited by KMI factions (BRI, YSR and NPF), MKRA and Shadow Company, and ultimately, Space Sandbox Server is a de-jure and de facto capital of Multi Purpose Task Force. Also, the server is hosted on a $40/mo Physgun tier, which, as YSR member CRISIS noted, is how the server didn't lag at 12 players online, two tanks and three starships spawned.
