USS Solstice (CVN-57) is a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier built and operated by the Assault Expeditionary Force, commissioned on May 11th, 2020. She stands as the sole Nimitz-class carrier in AEF inventory. The Solstice is the second dupe-based aircraft carrier to serve in AEF active inventory, featuring many improvements over the initial Jade Cove family of carriers. Her home port is NAS San Loma. She serves as the new flagship for Carrier Strike Group One and hosts Carrier Air Group Three having relieved the Jade Cove from her duty as leader of the strike group.
Development
he earliest rendition of USS Solstice was originally built by Faded, an AEF member. The original build had no name, and had several differences; notably a smaller island and a narrow angled flight deck. However the proposal showed merit in building a larger carrier to replace the Jade Cove. After the initial prototype was shown to Strayed, it prompted an overhaul of the flight deck and island to turn the vessel into a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier to better integrate with the AEF's standing fleet.
Additionally, she was also designed with expression 2 and wiremod in mind, having implemented technology developed from the Jade Cove such as the functional LSO station, radar, and jet blast deflectors. Additionally supporting an E2 Phalanx Close In Weapon System (CIWS).
Service History
Sea Trials
Following her completion, the USS Solstice was tested on San Loma Sandbox and off the coast of NWS Kern Lake, supporting testing efforts of the AEF's A-7 Corsair and F-14B Tomcat. She completed sea trials in late May of 2020.
World War III
At the end of the NATO-TEC War the Solstice was sent after the final intervention on Colourful Crew, to take place in a photo op to commemorate the end of the war. This would mark the first and final combat deployment of the Solstice prior to AEF's second dormant period.
Postwar
Following the war, the Solstice is slated to be featured in Garry's Combat as the primary aircraft carrier for VF-143. Post-meta Nagase fleshed out the sister ships of USS Solstice with USS Inner Haven (CVN-54), USS Snowgrave (CVN-55), and USS World Machine (CVN-56). Only USS Snowgrave was finished in Garry's Mod however.
